Specializing in sensitive skin, La Roche-Posay (as you can tell from the name, they’re from France ooh la la) offers a variety of options based on you skincare needs (dry skin, oily skin, rosacea etc), but I can only speak for those of us with crater-sized pores that basically ooze oil all day everyday. It really is quite gross how oily my skin can get.
I’ve been using this product the last few months after a friend recommended it, and I have noticed a nice natural glow to my skin, where other products either did nothing or dried my skin out too much. I know; my skin glows like all the time because of the oil, right? What I mean is, although my face still gets a bit shiny (there really is no getting away from that), I’ve noticed my pores don’t show as much as they used to. Usually by mid morning I’m wondering how many eggs I can fry on my face, but it’s La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel for Oily Sensitive Skin to the rescue – the natural controlled glow persists.
Another plus is that there were no breakouts on my super sensitive skin when I made the product change. The moisturizer which doubles as a great primer gives a nice matte finish – can we say more bang for your buck? The only thing, though, is I find the moisturizer dries my skin out way too much in the winter but I will definitely try it as part of my skincare regimen for the summer. There is also a toner that I only use it once a week to give my skin a refresher but really you just need the cleanser. It does a great job bringing out the glow.
It’s available at Shopper’s Drug Mart in 250ml or if you’re lucky and they’re still in a generous mood, you can get an extra 150ml for free! SCORE! The price seems a bit high ($24), but you really only need just shy of a dime-sized amount that is easily worked into lather on wet hands. When I say a little goes a long way, I am not kidding. So really, one purchase can last for months. But with all that I must add that it’s always important to drink a lot of water throughout the day.
Try it out if you’ve been looking to switch products (there is a sample size) and tell me what you think! I’d also love to know what you use on your oily skin.
