Did you know…

That the first licensed Black Canadian physician also attended the deathbed of Abraham Lincoln? Yep, Anderson Ruffin Abbott – one of only eight black physicians to serve in the Civil War – stood vigil over Lincoln and recorded his condition throughout the night. Because of his friendship with the President, he was later presented by Mary Todd Lincoln with the plaid shawl Lincoln had worn to his 1861 inauguration.
