I like Palmer’s products – their cocoa butter is the only thing I use on my skin. I’ve been curious about these hair products and finally decided I should try them out. And boy was I excited.
What it looks like:
Protein pack – it’s the usual texture of conditioner.

What it smells like: I was SO excited to use this because they both (the protein pack even more than the hair pudding) smelled exactly like cutting a coconut open and I was transported back to growing up in the Caribbean! Oh. So. Yummy.
How I used it:
Protein pack – I co-washed and t-shirt dried my hair, then applied a generous amount of the protein pack and wore my conditioning cap for about 45 mins. I then sat underneath my Huetiful then rinsed my hair.
Hair pudding: After letting my hair air-dry, I applied Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In and let my hair air dry so it wasn’t too wet when I styled. I sectioned my hair and applied pudding then two (or three) strand twisted then bantu-knotted my hair.
With all the fabulous products out there, I never thought I’d come across any that did not impress me. To say that I was less than impressed with these products, is putting it nicely. I even used the hair pudding a few times just to ensure I was giving it a fair chance. I’m over it.
It left my hair very dry and flakey (I could actually see the white residue of hair pudding once my hair dried) and there was no curl definition. The protein pack did not strip my hair of moisture, but it wasn’t anything that would make me want to repurchase. Since my hair is short, I was able to split the pack into 2 and I deep-conditioned the following week. I got the same flakey results. It’s too bad, because I really wanted to like this product. It’s coconut oil, after all.
The one good thing is how lovely and very coconut my hair smelled, and it stuck around days after. So in that aspect I can’t complain. I didn’t even want to share pics of my hair because it was so stripped of moisture because of the hair pudding and I didn’t like how it looked at all. But I blog to share my thoughts, so le voila:
I’m over this product. PS – it’s REALLY hard taking pics of the back of your head!
Please leave a comment below if you like these products. I will not be buying them again, but I know there are some who love it. Please share!
