It is known simply as: “The Happiest 5k on the Planet”. And TNL was finally participating.
“The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants, or “Color Runners”, are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:
- Wear white at the starting line
- Finish plastered in color!“
Easy Peasy! Team TNL – aptly named “What Up Gangstaz” because why not? – had planned to walk the entire race, seeing as there was no formal time-frame and the real reward was about having fun anyway. As part of the registration, you were provided with a t-shirt, headband and fun body-decorating paraphernalia. You were encouraged to wear glitter and bright colours, which basically meant were going to arrive donned in tutus.
That, friends, was indeed quite necessary! We experienced this over a month ago, and still can’t stop talking about it. It took everything in us to not share every single picture that we dook that day!
There was a different colour at each km, and the excitement never got old with each new arch we approached.
As fun as it was getting splattered by the rainbow throughout the walk was, the REAL party was at the finish line! Each participant received a medal and colour packs were distributed to have a little more colourful fun. Complete with a DJ/host getting everyone hyped, we got a chance to dump on… well, ourselves! And quite frankly, were we covered enough? We don’t think so either, HA!
By the time we were good and covered in colour and the after party was over, there were booths that participants could peruse – including Sally Hansen who also had a photo booth. Fear not, folks, we tested out the booth extensively and can say for sure that it is a must have at the event! You were able to pose (with props if you felt like it) and enter your email address on the iPad they had located at the booth. You got a print-out, but the photos were also later emailed to you!
All in all, it was a GREAT day and we can’t wait to do it again next year!
