Before I start with today’s post, I have to say CONGRATS AGAIN to the winner of our Viviscal Giveaway! Thank you to those who entered, we had so much fun partnering up with Viviscal.
Now, onto ChickAdvisor aka “Canada’s most trusted reviews platform for women on everything from beauty products to food, fashion, home and baby.”
This was actually one of those things I came across while perusing Instagram one day when someone had shared a post of beauty products that they had received to review. So you know that your girl was like SAY NO MORE! I mean, I have a little experience with sharing my reviews and such, so I created my account and away I went.
It’s a really cool concept; you share honest reviews on anything – I have not only talked about beauty and skin products but also food and books – and accumulate points and “badges” based on your activity. Whenever they receive a new product from one of their [Canadian] partners, they send email to those registered for their Product Review Club and from there you can apply to be selected. If selected, all they ask is that you share your review within 14 days of receipt of the product.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy, right?
Here’s the thing, I have not been selected to date. There is a huge community of very active participants with a large number of points and – I’m going to keep it real here – as life went on I sort of fell off the incentive that ChickAdvisor offered. I didn’t even break 1000 points, while others have 1000s!
So why am I even telling you about ChickAdvisor, you ask? Well if you’re Canadian and simply like to share/read reviews on items you’ve tried/would like to try, this is a great platform. I don’t know about you, but I rely heavily on reviews before purchasing ANYTHING. It’s why Ash and I started this blog in the first place!
Anyway, so onto the point of this post – ha! One day I received an email to join ChickAdvisor Premium – what’s this? Tell me more CA. The membership costs $60/year (plus HST, so really $67.80) and ever month you receive a box of new products. That’s $5 a month, folks. And it’s super Canadian. Sign. Me. Up.
I waited patiently for my first box and one day it came and you’d SWEAR it was Christmas morning by the way I reacted.
Let’s open it up and see what Chris got for Christmas, shall we?
Considering this is the welcome package, it came with a couple extra items to really woo you but I wasn’t quite expecting anything to be full-sized; after all, the price was too good to be true. So along with a ChickAdvisor makeup bag came:
- Cake Beauty Heavy Cream Intensive Hand Repair Balm (Retail value: $12)
- CND Creative Play Nail Lacquer in “Cherry-Glo-Round” (Retail value: $8.50)
- CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat and Weekly Polish in “Blush Teddy” (Retail value: $24-$26)
- Know Cosmetics Lipstick Topcoat, “No, My Lips Are Sealed” (Retail value: $25)
- Know Cosmetics “No Bare Brows” Universal 4-in-1 Brow Fix (Retail value: $24)
- Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte Lipstick in “Mauve Moment” (Retail value: $21)
- Vasanti BrightenUp! Exfoliator & Moisturizer (Retail value: $24)
- Le Petit Marseillais Extra Gentle Shower Creme Body Wash (Retail value: $8)
So to recap, all of this…
… for $5. Not bad eh?
I was also provided with a reference link should anyone like to purchase a membership, but it seems like they have reached their cap so feel free to check back!
Also – yes, I will be providing reviews on the products in our Get it or Forget it posts so stay tuned!
